I've shared the saying that goes, "The best thing about the Internet is that ANYONE can build a website, and the worst thing about the Internet is that ANYONE can build a website". I'm excited to help you share your interests and ideas by teaching you how to build your own GREAT website! Your "Digital Doorway" to share with the world. We will be using the new "Google Sites" that comes with your GSuite account. It can be accessed quickly by going to sites.google.com . Starting required pages:
Use appropriate images and content. Remember the built-in Google image search as well as the image sites on our "Learning Links" page. Google has a great resource to help you learn how to set up your site: https://gsuite.google.com/learning-center/products/sites/get-started/ When you are ready to PUBLISH your site, please use your ID number at the end of the web address GSites provides: example - https://sites.google.com/hardin.k12.mt.us/123456 (this will be the address to your site) Also, as we get started, please leave leave it set to "anyone at hardin.k12.mt.us" until we're ready to go to the BIG World Wide Web. Language is a powerful thing - FLEX your vocabulary! Quizlet is a great online tool to help you learn, study, and practice new terms. It will be our way to create sets of flashcards that can be turned into different learning games and activities with just a click! To give this tool a try, use the "Be Internet Awesome" vocabulary from each of the areas of Interland. I've put them into a document for you here:
Once you have your vocab list open, go to Quizlet.com and sign up for an account using your Google Log in (super easy to sign in when you use Google Log In option).
Next, create a new set of cards for the "Be Internet Awesome" vocabulary. Quizlet is cool because it lets you use images and/or text on your cards. It will also read text to you and you can "remix" your cards into different games and activities, or even make yourself a "Practice Test" to see how well you know the words. (There's even a Quizlet App to help you study on the go! Apple/iOS & Android) |
